The 2008 Chevy Tahoe Hybrid that made its debut at the tail end of 2007, featuring two-mode hybrid technology optimized for city and highway driving. The first mode allowed the driver to operate the vehicle at low speeds and low loads with the use of electric power only, engine power only or in any combination of engine and electric power. The second mode is used primarily for highway speeds with the advantage of using the full eight-cylinder engine power when the conditions demand it.

The standard Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid comes with a 6.0 liter V8, producing 332 PS (244 kW) and 498 Nm of torque, coupled to two 60 kW electric motors. The SUV can run solely on electrical power for a limited range, powered by the 300-volt nickel-metal hydride battery. The Tahoe Hybrid also features a cylinder deactivation function which shuts down four of the engine's cylinders when less power is required. All that makes for a fuel economy rating of 21 mpg (11.2 liters/100 km) for this massive SUV, which the Munich-based tuner hopes to improve on.
