2014 Acura MDX Prototype will be unwrapped at the 2013 at the Detroit Auto Show.

Acura offered no details on the new MDX’s powertrain, but rumors say it will be powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that delivers a total of 310 horsepower and 272 pound-feet of torque. There could also be a hybrid variant which has the aforementioned V6 engine and three electric motors for a combined output of 370 hp (276 kW).

On the menu you'll find special alloys, mirror caps, fog lamps, side sills, roof spoilers and more, available in red, white, orange, black or silver. There's also three complete design packages - called Style, Premium and Exclusive - to transform the Juke. Further interior options are also in the works, but for the time being the program appears to be available exclusively in Europe.

2014 Acura RLX will make its production debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Visually, the production RLX isn't all that different from the "concept" shown in April at the 2012 New York auto show. In fact, all that seems to have changed are the wheels and fascia. The once-controversial power plenum grille remains, but it is far more elegantly executed than the initial versions.

Dimensionally, the 2014 RLX is approximately the same length as the outgoing RL, but with a two-inch longer wheelbase and two-inch shorter front overhang. Both the track and vehicle width also increase by approximately two inches, which translate to more room inside. Rear-seat legroom is 38.8 inches and shoulder room is also said to be good.

The 2014 RLX uses a 310-horsepower, direct-injected V6 to power the front wheels through a six-speed automatic, and it will go on sale in the spring; the 370-hp RLX hybrid goes on sale later next year.

For the chassis, there are double wishbone front suspension, multi-link rear suspension, active dampers and electronic power steering with a variable gear ratio. Despite all this, total weight is a reasonable 3,933 pounds for the front-wheel-drive model.

On the outside, the 2014 Acura RLX is a midsize sedan. On the inside, it’s almost full-size. The rear seat is considerably more spacious than the cramped one on the RL. Acura says the RLX has up to three inches more rear leg room than the Audi A6, BMW 535i and Lexus GS350. That’s a significant advantage.

All-new flagship sedan showcases signature new Acura technologies; boasts class-leading fuel-efficiency, handling agility and rear-seat legroom

Acura took the wraps off its all-new 2014 RLX luxury-performance sedan – the most powerful, spacious, and technologically advanced Acura sedan, ever. "The 2014 Acura RLX heralds the introduction of a number of new signature Acura technologies that provide the driver a feeling of connection to the product, to the road, and to the world from the very moment they enter the vehicle," said Jeff Conrad, vice president and general manager of Acura Sales. The 2014 Acura RLX is powered by an all-new 310-horsepower direct-injected SOHC 24-Valve i-VTEC® V-6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management, and is expected to earn best-in-class estimated EPA fuel economy ratings of 20/31/24 mpg1 (city/highway/combined). The 2014 Acura RLX is slated to go on-sale at U.S. Acura dealers nationwide in the spring of 2013 and will be available in five grades – the well-equipped RLX, the RLX with Navigation, the feature-packed RLX with Technology package, the RLX with Krell Audio package, and the top-of-the-line RLX with Advance package. Pricing details will be announced closer to launch.

Exterior Design and Function
The RLX follows an "aero-fused" exterior design motif with its wide and athletic stance, sharp upswept bodylines, aerodynamic greenhouse, and distinctive new Jewel-Eye™ LED headlights offering improved down-the-road illumination. The RLX's sleek upper body and numerous other aerodynamic features result in aerodynamic efficiency to best-in-class levels.

Seven spoke 18x8J aluminum-alloy wheels and 245/45 R18 all-weather tires are standard, while Technology, Krell and Advance grades feature 19x8J wheels and 245/40 R19 tires. The RLX's alloy wheels also feature a noise-reducing design that lowers tire noise by 7 decibels across the audible frequency range.

Additional exterior features available on the RLX include an acoustic glass windshield and door glass, integrated power rear sunshade, front and rear parking sensors, heated and auto-dimming side mirrors, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

Interior Design and Function
The RLX interior features premium, soft touch materials throughout, with the tasteful application of premium metal and wood-grain accents. A stitched leather instrument panel, center console and steering wheel, along with available Milano perforated leather seats, communicate a new level of craftsmanship and refined luxury appeal in Acura's top-of-the-line sedan.

Luxury form and function are smartly integrated in the RLX's new center console, featuring dual screens – an 8-inch Navigation screen and a 7-inch On-Demand Multi-Use Display™ touch screen – that provide easy and direct one-touch access to key functions, including audio, air conditioning, navigation and text-to-voice SMS text message function. The sliding, leather-trimmed armrest conceals a storage compartment with USB connectivity, 12-volt accessory power outlet and space to store a tablet device.

Additional interior comfort and convenience features include push-button start, power tilt and telescoping steering, power sunroof, tri-zone automatic climate control, and Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®.

The standard 10-speaker ELS® audio system includes HD radio™, XM radio, Pandora® interface, USB connectivity, and an auxiliary jack. The RLX with Technology package is equipped with a 14-speaker Acura/ELS® Studio premium audio system. The Krell Audio and Advance grades receive an all-new Krell ultra-premium system that sets a new benchmark for high-fidelity sound in a luxury vehicle.

Chassis Technology
Whether on a serpentine mountain pass, congested city street, or cramped airport parking deck, and in all weather conditions, the RLX with Precision All-Wheel Steer™ (P-AWS™), is designed to deliver an unprecedented level of handling precision and control.

Working in concert with Vehicle Stability Assist® (VSA®) with Traction Control and Agile Handling Assist dynamic braking system, P-AWS™ provides enhanced vehicle stability, maneuverability, and control. The RLX's handling performance is further elevated by its new double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension system with Amplitude Reactive Dampers, and new high-output, belt-type electronic power steering.

All RLX models have 4-wheel disc brakes with high-friction pads and a 4-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS), along with new Hydraulic Brake Boost that improves brake pedal feel. New Electric Parking Brake with Automatic Brake Hold, and high-efficiency Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) are additional firsts for Acura.

New Direct Injected VTEC® V-6 with VCM
The 2014 RLX is powered by an all-new 3.5-liter direct-injected SOHC i-VTEC® V-6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management. Rated at 310 horsepower and 272 lb.-ft. of torque, the engine delivers exceptional drivability, with more than 90-percent of its peak torque produced from 2000 rpm to 6600 rpm. Variable Cylinder Management™ with 3-cylinder and 6-cylinder operation works in concert with the VTEC valvetrain to deliver superb cruising efficiency. The engine is mounted to a lightweight and rigid aluminum front subframe using a vibration-canceling Active Control engine Mount (ACM) system.

The new engine is mated to a reengineered Sequential SportShift 6-speed automatic transmission with revised gearing, an intuitive selector and steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles. A driver-selectable Sport mode provides more aggressive shift points and more pronounced engine braking during deceleration, along with manual operation.

AcuraLink® Connectivity System
The RLX is equipped with the next-generation of the AcuraLink® connectivity system, delivering a bevy of new information, media, convenience, and security services via embedded two-way communications and web-enabled devices. AcuraLink® leverages the Aha™ by Harman cloud-based interface to provide users with thousands of customizable media and connectivity choices. Next-generation AcuraLink® also delivers an array of available security and convenience features, such as AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic™ featuring freeway traffic and all-new surface street traffic, airbag deployment notification, stolen vehicle tracking, remote locking and unlocking, security alarm notification and 24-hour personalized concierge services for restaurant reservations and more.

Advanced Safety, Visibility, and Driver Assistive Technology
The RLX offers a comprehensive list of leading-edge technologies, including Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist system, Forward Collision Warning and Collision Mitigation Brake system safety technologies, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow driver assist system, and Blind Spot Information and Multi-Angle Rearview Camera with Dynamic Guidelines enhanced visibility systems.

Featuring Acura's next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ II (ACE™ II) body structure, the RLX is anticipated to earn top-level safety ratings, including a 5-star NCAP Overall Vehicle Score, and IIHS 'Top Safety Pick' rating as well as a GOOD rating in the new IIHS small overlap frontal crash test.

Additional details on key advances and technologies for the all-new 2014 RLX:
-Class leading interior space based on the RLX's longer wheelbase and efficient packaging. At 196.1 inches, the RLX is similar in length to the outgoing RL, but it has a two-inch longer wheelbase and is nearly two inches wider, placing the new RLX well above the norm in the mid-luxury class. The flagship RLX sedan has up to three inches more rear legroom than competing models, including the BMW 535i, Lexus GS350 and Audi A6.
-Extensive use of lightweight materials includes the application of high-strength steel to 55 percent of the body, and the intensive use of aluminum-for the front fenders, hood, steering hangar beam, front and rear bumper beams, front subframe, and front and rear door outer panels (mated to steel inner panels). The RLX weighs in at 3,933 pounds. Static bending and torsional body rigidity are up 52 percent and 46 percent, respectively.
-Jewel-Eye LED headlights (an Acura first) LED lamps enhance the RLX's modern and distinctive appearance while providing outstanding light distribution and improved down-the-road illumination.
-Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition™ offers a wide range of search options including local search functionality and AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic™ for both highways and surface streets.
-Agile Handling Assist (an Acura first) uses active braking to help the driver smoothly and easily trace the desired line through a curve with smaller steering inputs.
-Electric Parking Brake (an Acura first) provides one-touch parking brake activation.
-Automatic Brake Hold (an Acura first) maintains the vehicle's position when the driving or parking brake are released until the throttle is depressed.
-Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow (an Acura first), allows the RLX to independently maintain a set following distance in low-speed traffic situations, including stop and go traffic, and to initiate vehicle braking when necessary.
-Forward Collision Warning (FCW) uses a camera mounted in the upper portion of the windshield to detect vehicles ahead of the RLX and audibly and visually alert the driver when it determines a frontal collision with a detected vehicle is possible.
-Lane Departure Warning (LDW) uses the same windshield-mounted camera to detect lane markings on the road and alerts the driver if the vehicle is wandering from a detected lane.
-Front seatbelt e-pretensioners use electronic control to reduce belt tension under normal driving conditions, while also enabling automatic belt tensioning in hard cornering maneuvers or in the event of a collision.
-Multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic guidelines uses guidelines that reflect steering wheel inputs on the display to aid in backup maneuvers.
-Capless fueling (an Acura first) eliminates the fuel cap and improves ease of fueling.

The new NSX roadster concept is about to get a heavy dose of exposure in The Avengers movie.

The roadster version of Acura's hybrid sports car was spotted on set during filming last year, but Acura has now revealed that the NSX Roadster will be used by Tony Stark, played by actor Robert Downey Jr, in the upcoming movie.

The exterior styling resembles the NSX concept that was presented in Detroit this year, but a closer look at all the pictures will reveal that the interior and mid mounted V6 is exactly the same as the original NSX.

In the Avengers movie, the Acura is supposed to be powered by a 80,000 TOHC 32-valve engine with titanium-forged block and nitrous fuel-injection system. This runs on palladium, the first element used by mr. Stark to run the core that kept him alive.

The two-seater model isn’t the only Acura model to star in the film as specially converted MDX crossovers and TL sedans were used in the movie by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.

Press Release

Newly Refined 2012 Acura TL To Debut At Chicago Auto Show

Acura today announced it will debut the newly refined 2012 TL at the Chicago Auto Show. The TL, which recently received the 2011 ALG Residual Value Award for Best Near Luxury Car, further enhances its position in the segment with aggressive, yet refined styling and performance.

Jeff Conrad, vice president of Acura sales, will introduce the production vehicle at the press conference, to be held on February 9, 2011 in the Acura booth. The press conference will be webcast live on www.acuranews.com.

2010 is bringing some changes to the class lineup in the American Le Mans Series, and defending LMP1 champions Highcroft Racing are adjusting. The new structure will combine the former P1 and P2 classes at all races except for Sebring and Petit Le Mans. As a result, Highcroft will campaign a new evolution of Acura's original ARX-01 P2 car dubbed 01c. Highcroft has been part of the Acura ALMS program since its inception in 2006 and is slated to continue in 2010 as the lead development squad.

At this time, we also don't know the fate of the other two Acura teams, de Ferran Motorsports and Fernandez Racing – or the ARX-02a. The last we heard, Fernandez is still looking for 2010 funding and may end up dropping out while de Ferran previously announced an expansion into IndyCar for 2010. Given Gil de Ferran's longstanding relationship with Honda, we would expect to see an ARX-01c in de Ferran colors next season. For its part, Honda Performance Development couldn't tell us anything about Acura's 2010 plans beyond what Highcroft has already announced. According to HPD spokesman T.E. McHale, plans are still being finalized and an announcement is planned for early December.

ALMS spokesman Bob Dickinson has informed Autoblog that the final technical rules for 2010 are still being ironed out by sanctioning body IMSA, but in all likelihood, existing P1 and P2 cars will run together in a common class with weight and restrictor adjustments for equivalency.

According to Highcroft spokesman Paul Ryan, the team plans to run only the 01c in 2010, and at this point, only one car is confirmed. If the team can line up sufficient sponsorship, a second 01c may be added to the program.

Monterey Ca, (October 9, 2009) – Gil de Ferran started his weekend as he would
like to continue with a stunning pole position in readiness for the tenth and
final round of the American Le Mans Series at Laguna Seca tomorrow (Saturday
10th October).

The Brazilian driver and team owner of de Ferran Motorsports could not contain
his delight with his third (and his team's fifth) pole of the season.

"This is obviously a very special weekend for me as it is my final race," said
Gil. "I have tried not to focus on this when I'm in the car and just think about
getting the most out of the Acura and keeping my eye on the ball. It is not easy
particularly with the special white livery for this race and the presence of Jim
Hall who we are honoring this weekend. But I did it and it leaves a good taste
in my mouth for an hour or so; then I have a four hour race tomorrow to think
about!"

It was not an easy ride to pole for de Ferran. He was hounded all the way by his
championship rival and driver of the sister Acura, David Brabham, who was just
0.092 off de Ferran's pole time of 1.11.206 (itself a fraction off the track's
class record of 1.11.175). The car was not perfect and de Ferran feels there is
still more to come.

"We've been struggling with the handling all weekend," said Gil. "We have gone
in lots of different directions to try and solve the problem and we made a big
change just before qualifying which seemed to improve things. But it is still
not perfect. We had understeer in turns three, four, five and six so I was
throwing the car into a slide just like a go-kart. It was kind of fun but we did
have a few anxious moments at the end. But I have the pole and that is great. It
is also consistent with other big moments in my career: I was on pole in my last
ever IRL race in Texas and I went on to win that one. So I am heading in the
right direction!"

The whole weekend has also been well documented as a tribute weekend to Jim Hall
and his iconic Chaparral marque. The media and fans were wowed by the sparkling
one-off livery of the No. 66 XM Radio de Ferran Motorsports Acura ARX-02a when
it was unveiled by Jim and Gil yesterday (Thursday). With half an eye on his
past – de Ferran won his first ever IndyCar race with Hall at Laguna Seca – the
present is very much at the forefront of Gil's young team. With the chance of
championship honors still very real, tomorrow's race represents one of de Ferran
and his super-quick team mate, Simon Pagenaud's greatest challenges.

"It is still anyone's race," said Gil, "and the championship is up for grabs. I
would dearly love to win my last ever race as a professional driver but I won't
drive differently. I pride myself in being a rational person and I believe
whether you are racing for a million dollars or one cent you just have to give
it your best and that is what both Simon and I will be doing tomorrow."

Simon Pagenaud will start tomorrow's four hour race. Gil has been named Grand
Marshal of the race by the Laguna Seca organizers and he will be asking the
drivers to 'start their engines', but there is also another good reason why Gil
would like Simon to take the green flag...."I want to be the first person to see
the chequered flag in my last race!" grinned de Ferran.

The Monterey Sports Car Championship Presented by Patrón is scheduled to start
at 14.25pm (Pacific Time) tomorrow (Saturday 10th October). It will be televised
in the US on Speed TV on Sunday 11th October (tape delayed) at 14.30 (Eastern
Time) and in Europe on Motors TV on Sunday 18th October (tape delayed) between
17.00 and 21:00.

New 2009 Acura TL Revealed

发表者 ddgg 8/12/08

An initial front three-quarter teaser image of the 2009 Acura TL was released early last month giving consumers and autofans a first look at the all new model and in particular the much debated front fascia. Now for all you comment happy punters out there, we can show you the Acura TL from all angles and with it, a few more juicy details to spice things up a little.

The dimensions of the model come in a little higher than its predecessor, the length, width and height are increased by 6.2 inches, 1.8 inches and 0.5 inches respectively. The new platform sees a slightly longer wheel base of 109.3 inches and it features a strengthened chassis with a double-wishbone front suspension and multilink rear suspension.

You are looking at the next evolution (following the TSX) of Acura's “Keen Edge Dynamic” design language, it aims to add a more aggressive stance to the Acura line-up and judging by what we see before us, we can arguably confirm the 2009 TL has achieved this.

A choice of two engines will be available at launch, the 3.2-liter V6 engine is replaced with a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 280hp and 254 lb-ft of torque – a modest increase of 22hp and 21lb-ft. Moving up to the performance model, we find the TL Type-S has been replaced by the brand new TL SH-AWD (Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive) with a powerful 3.7-liter V6 producing 305hp and 275lb-ft of torque. Both are mated to a five-speed automatic transmission system.

Acura will have high hopes the 2009 Acura TL can help reverse their declining sales when it goes on sales this fall.
