Hyundai will unveil the HCD-14 concept at the Detroit Motor Shownext week. "The HCD-14 concept will give the automotive world a glimpse into future Hyundai premium vehicle design, advanced 3-D gesture-based technology controls, and spirited driving dynamics," said Hyundai Motor America in a statement.
The HCD-14 is the latest in a line of concepts which stretches back to 1992 with the HCD-1. Like its predecessors, the HCD-14 has been designed at the Hyundai California Design facility, which has provided the concept its name.
From the image it appears the B-pillar is blacked out, to give the sensation of an elongated, seamless window, instead of front and rear windows. The rims appear to be a five-spoke design, and the headlights are outlined by an LED strip. It’s likely that mirrors on the production model would be larger, and the roofline would be a little higher. But it’s clear that HCD-14 represents Hyundai’s newer, “Fluidic Precision” design language. Hyundai has said Fluidic Precision continues the Fluidic Sculpture design philosophy, but dials it back a notch, offering a more tailored aesthetic.
