Dartz unveiled a new Black Snake for the Chinese market, the Dartz Black Snake is actually based on the Mercedes-Benz GL 63 AMG and the model is the firm’s first non-armored vehicle.

The Black Snake is now the centerpiece of the brand with high performance, all-wheel drive offerings and the usual garnishings of diamond-encrusted hood ornaments.

To make the interior of this car Dartz seems to have sacrificed an entire zoo, as you can order a variety of different leathers including snake, crocodile, ostrich and their all time favorite whale penis!

Power comes from an AMG-supplied 5.5-liter V8 bi-turbo with an output of 557 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque that's linked up with AMG ride control suspension and a seven-speed automatic. All told, it can go from 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds.

Prices for the Dartz Black Snake start at 1,000,000 USD.

Praga Cars has revealed full details of its upcoming hand-built R1 track racer. It is based around a carbon fiber monocoque chassis which helps keep the car’s dry weight to a mere 572 kgs (1,261 lbs). The body work is a combination of quick-release fiberglass, Kevlar and carbon fiber panels. The windows are custom made lightweight polycarbonate units.

Under the bonnet, the R1 has been fitted with a longitudinal mounted, naturally-aspirated, 4-cylinder 2.0-liter engine built by Renault Sports Technologies. The power mill generates 210 HP – 155 kW at 7,500 rpm and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque at 4,500 rpm. This enables the vehicle to have a power-to-weight ratio of 356 HP per ton.

There’s even Koni dampers for shock absorption duties, an AP Racing clutch and braking system as well as a Motec electronic engine management to boot for this hand-built Le Mans look-alike that stands 4,170mm long, 1,800mm wide and only 995mm tall. It will carry a price tag of 98,000 EUR (about RM400,000 at current exchange rates).

Other engineering highlights of the Praga R1 include a six-speed Hewland transmission, AP Racing brakes, Koni dampers, Sachs Racing clutch, Motec ECU, and an integrated OMP fire suppression system.

Praga R1 is ultra-light compact track car that is set to rewrite motorsport books in its most basic rule - cost/performance ratio. Above all genuine design solutions stands its purpose - to provide top track performance and
unprecedented reliability for reasonable price and low running cost. Praga R1 is here to be driven hard and not to spend owner's money and time in the garage.

Might be surprising, but R1 is by far not the first racing car from Praga Cars LTD company. In past three years, small yet strenuous team have created two other cars that made huge impression within the greatest circuits in the world. Small Attack R4 and later Praga R4S managed to scoop several race victories and podium results in 2010-2012 on circuits like Assen, Zolder, Monza, Donington and SPA Francorchamps. Competing against "heavyweight" racing legends like Corvette, Ferrari, Porsche, Mosler and Viper proved right Praga’s new concept and approach. They are the same for all Praga cars - low weight, agility and functional aerodynamics rather than brute power and big engine.

R1 is third race car hand built by the same team, completely from the ground up. Previous models (both still in production) found many satisfied owners over the last years. This newest one beautifully shows creator's competence and deep understanding of design, aerodynamics and construction. Praga R1 is a masterpiece which grabs attention only by looking at its shape and proportions.

As lightweight as it can be, two seater Praga R1 is 4170 mm long, 1800 mm wide, only 995 mm tall with only 590 kilograms dry weight (1300 lbs). Yet pilots of Praga R1 get unprecedented level of passive safety and comfort. Closed cockpit provides safer and more convenient place for pilot and his passenger. Especially in wet and cold conditions. Carbon fibre monocoque reinforced by internal ribs and bulkheads, carbon fibre crumple zones for frond and side crash
energy absorption, 6-point seatbelts, integrated fire extinguisher system, polycarbonate windows and safety fuel tank make it one of the safest racing cars.

Base model uses naturally aspirated 2-litre 4-cylinder engine F4R 832 from Renault Sports Technologies with maximum 155 kW (210 PS) at 7500 rpm. This gives promising power to weight ratio of only 3,8 kg/kW (356 HP per tone). Located longitudinally almost exactly in the middle of the car together with specially prepared Hewland JFR 6-speed sequential transmission operated automatically via KMP pneumatic paddle shifting system gives the car extremely low
centre of gravity and also little polar moment of inertia. Both these are essential for great handling, dynamics and overall performance. During October 2012, first prototype was hard tested on Praga Cars home racetrack Slovakia Ring near Bratislava, Slovak Republic. Thought through balance between beautiful shape and aerodynamics efficiency gives Praga R1 significant downforce which in return means higher cornering speeds and stability.

Radical has announced plans to introduce a Le Mans inspired road car which will be called the Xtreme Coupe.

The Radical Xtreme Coupé, or RXC, is powered by a Ford-built 3.7-litre V6 engine producing 380bhp at 6750rpm and 320lb ft at 4250rpm. It also boasts that both race AND road car will have around 900kg of downforce at a top speed of 175mph.

Despite measuring 4,300mm long, 1,960mm wide and just 1,127mm high, the Radical RXC has space for two in its cabin, and equipment like electric wing mirrors, air conditioning and a heated windscreen are standard.

Riding on 17 inch wheels, the road-going version will be fitted with 330mm discs up front and 310mm at the rear, with carbon-ceramic discs expected to be an option.

The automaker will unveil a race version of the RXC during the Autosport International show at Birmingham NEC on January 10 next year. The type-approved road car is anticipated to go on sale next summer at a launch price of £89,500.

Road trips, trackdays and race weekends will never be the same again.

History of the RXC

The RXC is the culmination of three and a half years of design and development to create the world’s most extreme road-legal coupe. Influenced and inspired by contemporary LMP design, it brings a true taste of Le Mans to the road. Dramatically styled, uncompromising in performance but with class-beating running costs, the RXC opens up hyper-GT ownership to a wider audience than previously possible.

The RXC is a completely clean-sheet design for Radical with only a handful of components carried over from its present range. Everything from the chassis and suspension design to the new V6 engine and seven-speed gearbox configuration has been developed specifically for the RXC under the guidance of Radical’s MD Phil Abbott and Chief Designer Nick Walford and his development team

‘In the whole history of Radical I don’t think I’ve been more excited about a new car than I am now with the RXC,’ said Phil Abbott. Quite a statement considering he was one of the founders and is the engineering driving force behind the whole company. ‘It’s the car we’ve always wanted to make, and by applying our extensive knowledge and understanding we have produced a GT car that - just like our other products - will outperform machinery costing many times more. But more important than that it’s going to be incredibly thrilling to drive.’

Design

The RXC experience starts the moment you set eyes on its dramatic styling. Using experience from the SR9 Le Mans project – as well as extensive CAD modelling – the RXC breaks the mould in bringing current LMP styling and aerodynamics to the street. Carefully directed airflow means the RXC generates 900kg of over and underbody downforce, equalling the car’s mass at speed.

Cooling for the engine and braking systems is directed though vents in the nose and sidepods whilst a GT3-specification rear wing is adjustable to suit different circuit configurations. The cockpit is easily accessed by the gullwing doors, part of the most complex body that Radical has ever produced and incorporating both composite and carbon fibre sections. This multi-piece bodywork comes in a wide palette of colours and is designed to be easily and cost-effectively repaired or replaced.

The bodywork clothes a high-tensile, laser-cut CDS tubular steel spaceframe, developed in the same way as Radical’s FIA-approved SR series chassis. The integral rollcage ensures maximum occupant safety and vehicle stiffness, with both the nose and tail of the car boasting monocoque crash boxes. To prove the strength and very high level of safety the chassis will be submitted the same comprehensive FIA crash test that Le Mans cars are subjected to.

Powertrain

At the heart of the RXC beats a high-performance, low maintenance V6 engine. The Ford Duratec 37 Ti-VCT engine used in the RXC has been optimised by in-house engine division RPE and engine management partner AER to create a reliable, high-power yet low running cost powertrain.

The engine is a 3.7-litre 24-valve V6 unit with twin-independent variable cam timing and sequential multi-port electronic injection, controlled by a bespoke Radical/AER Life engine management system as employed successfully on the SR3 SL roadster. A fly-by-wire throttle ensures immediate power and response and the car will meet full Euro 5 emissions compliance for markets across the world. Despite their racing specification the engine and gearbox service intervals are up to 10,000km.

For territories and championships that allow it, Radical can also offer a 3.0-litre 480bhp variant of its RP-series V8 engine. In production since 2006, the RP V8 is a proven high-performance powerplant used by Radical’s SR8 RX racecar and many other racecars worldwide. This latest 3.0-litre configuration takes the Radical concept to the absolute, while still offering affordable running and rebuild costs well below any other bespoke racing engine.

Both engine options drive the rear wheels through an all-new bespoke RPE/Quaife seven-speed transverse gearbox that is low in weight and ensures the overall weight balance remains very close to that of an SR3. Featuring paddleshift and an integral Quaife Automatic Torque Biasing differential, gear ratios are quickly and easily changed from the side of the gearbox like current F1 design practice. The in-house developed paddleshift system allows full-bore, 50ms seamless upshifts and automatically blips the throttle for clutchless downshifts without the need to heel-and-toe.

The suspension and brakes

For the first time on a Radical the RXC features a bespoke Intrax Racing Suspension inboard push rod suspension system with double wishbones all round to reduce unsprung mass and further improve Radical’s class-leading ride quality and handling. Four-way adjustment is available as an option on the RXC-optimised dampers, with all cars benefitting from GT3-style camber and suspension geometry adjustment.

330mm front and 310mm rear fully-floating disc brakes with six-pot calipers take care of braking. Carbon ceramic discs and calipers are available as an option. The brakes sit inside 17” centre-lock wheels front and rear – the biggest ever fitted to a Radical production car.

Electronics

The AiM MXL2 LCD multifunction dashboard debuts on the RXC and provides a comprehensive snapshot of both engine information and performance figures. The optional datalogging system adds a comprehensive portfolio of configurable inputs, from brake pressure and temperature logging to G forces and suspension travel. AiM’s acclaimed SmartyCam system can also be added to the system to provide video with a realtime overlay of data, ideal for lap time improvement or corporate use.

Interior

Not only is the RXC Radical’s most technically advanced car but it is also its most comprehensively specified. The interior of the RXC features a multi-function fully adjustable steering wheel, EPAS power steering, electrically adjustable and heated wing mirrors, air conditioning, heated windscreen with single wiper and an adjustable pedal box. Occupants sit in bespoke Corbeau FIA-compliant trimmed bucket seats with six-point racing harnesses.

Atalanta Motors has announced plans to introduce an updated version of their original 1937 Sports Tourer.

Atalanta’s original products, which consisted of both short- and long wheelbase models and a number of body styles, were fairly advanced for their day, using independent suspension with coil springs, adjustable dampers, and full hydraulic brakes. Short-wheelbase models were fitted with 1.5- and 2.0-liter OHC four-cylinder engines once used in late-model Frazer Nash sports cars, while long-wheelbase Atalanta cars used a 4.3-liter V-12 borrowed from the original Lincoln Zephyr.

It was a combined initiative of Staffordshire based Martyn Corfield and Chesire based Trevor Farrington. They wanted to revive the glorious car of the 1930’s. The Atlanta Sports Tourer is still lauded as one of the technologically advanced sports car from the stables of Atlanta Motors, the production of which went downhill after the world war hit Britain.

STYLISH ATALANTA SPORTS TOURER RE-LAUNCHED AFTER 75 YEARS

On Monday 5 March 2012 the clock was turned back exactly 75 years at the Royal Automobile Club when a new British made Atalanta sports car was launched. The Atalanta Sports Tourer revives a design that was first shown to the public on 5 March 1937 and is the result, so far, from a joint venture between Staffordshire-based motoring enthusiast, Martyn Corfield and Cheshire based restorer Trevor Farrington.

John Surtees OBE, the only World Champion on both two and four wheels, complimented saying: "It is nice to see that enthusiasts still exist and are willing to put their heart and resources into such a project as the Atalanta.

Speaking at the launch, Corfield outlined the history of the marque and highlighted some of the many innovative technical features of the original Atalanta models. The company's aim was 'to fulfil the exacting requirements of professional and amateur drivers on both road and track'.

In reviving the Atalanta, modern technology has been used to enhance performance and safety while the 1930s English sports car style has been retained; as have tall, narrow tyres (for good driver 'feel' and ride comfort) and all components are new, with more than 85 percent being unique to Atalanta's design (castings, stub axles, springs, steering system and so on), all sensitively packaged within traditional hand-crafted aluminium over ash coach built structure.

Corfield said: "Our aim at Atalanta Motors is to reproduce the positive and enjoyable characteristics of vintage motoring in a reliable and usable manner that is relevant to today's driving environment." The new Atalanta gives a stylish, exhilarating drive with easily accessible performance and a comfortable ride with engaging handling which delivers driver satisfaction even at modest speeds." Atalanta is about style, innovation and performance."

When the original Atalanta was unveiled 75 years ago it received many favourable reviews, such as these below.

There is an individuality of both appearance and design in the Atalanta, a hand-built limited-production machine, which is establishing itself as a new make. An immediate point of interest is that it is the only normal production car at present built in this country with all four wheels sprung independently. Autocar April 1939

The performance is terrific, and this is backed up by superlative road holding and cornering. The Atalanta went round bends at 80 mph as though it was on rails. I wouldn't mind betting that you have never been along a road faster before - this was undoubtedly the case. Motorsport March 1939

Only seven of the original Atalanta's still exist, of which four are in running order. Four owners of the 1930s models were present at the launch of the revived car, including Sarah and Barry Ward, who said afterwards: "We both thought the car was fabulous and the colour combination was very striking and we like it very much. The finish looked very good, the dashboard looked modern and classic all at the same time as did the wheels, which are very attractive. There is nothing else like it and you have all done a wonderful job."

Rory Watson, the son of Neil Watson one of the founders of Atalanta Motors in the 1930s, helped Martyn Corfield unveil the new car. He said: "It was an emotional experience. I never thought that something my father helped create all those years ago would be revived with this new Atalanta. I'm sure my father would be very proud of what Martyn Corfield and his team have achieved."

Limited commissions for the 2012 Atalanta 'Revival' are being taken and each will be built to an individual specification as a unique vehicle.

Notes for editors

Established in December 1936 and based in Staines Middlesex, Atalanta Motors announced its first car on 5 March 1937. It was the only pre-war British car manufacturer that instigated and brought together innovative design features which included:

fully independent coil spring suspension
adjustable damping front and rear
fully hydraulic brakes
electrically operated magnetic epicyclical gearbox (an early form of semi-automatic gearbox)
multi-valve, twin-spark cylinder heads
selective engagement of a supercharger and
extensive use of lightweight materials such as electron, duralumin and hiduminium alloy for many of the castings.
Atalanta cars were available in a variety of configurations, including:

an open two-seat sports car
a two-seat sports tourer
a two-door fixed-head coupe
a luxury two-door saloon and
a two-door drop head coupe.
Only 21 cars were produced before the outbreak of war in 1939 forced the demise of the company.

Martyn Corfield has been a lifelong enthusiast of motor vehicles including those from the Edwardian, vintage and post-vintage eras. In 2007, Corfield undertook a demanding project to recreate the 1954 Austin Healey 100/4 Bonneville record car, following continuous development and testing Corfield used the car to break several UK and international speed records at Millbrook in 2009.

Following his initial acquisition of the 1938 Atalanta works Le Mans car, Corfield thoroughly research the history of the company and purchased several more cars - which led to his passion to revive the marque.

Trevor Farrington has been restoring vintage cars and preparing historic race cars from his base in Cheshire for over 25 years and is currently actively involved in the development of the Atalanta Revival motorcar. The owner of an interesting Atalanta monoposto, Farrington also shares his motoring interests with historic motorcycle racing where he has become a passionate and accomplished competitor.

Spada Vetture Sport, the makers of the Codatronca TS, have announced plans to introduce the new Codatronca Monza next month at the annual Top Marques Monaco 2011 premium car show.

This vehicle is claimed to be quicker and lower than the Codatronca TS. The company has yet to provide the complete details but so far, we know that this model is powered by a 7.0-liter V8 engine that delivers 630 hp & 668 Nm of torque (493 lb-ft). This engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, which enables the hypercar to reach the 62 mph mark from a standstill in only 3.4 seconds.

The Shayton Equilibrium supercar boasts some serious specs, including a top speed of over 249 mph, a 0-60 under three seconds and 1,084 bhp. It’ll retail for over 1 million euros, and Shayton will produce just 15 cars a year, including five special editions.

The Shayton Equilibrium supercar is built on a carbon-titanium monocoque chassis and has a body made of carbon fiber, obviously. The power of the Shayton Equilibrium comes from a V12 engine, that develops 1084 bhp and 930 Nm of torque at 5000 rpm. The displacement of the engine has not been announced, but the supercar's weight has - 1200kg. Here are some interesting specs regarding the Shayton Equilibrium: its body generates 750 kg of downforce at 300 km/h and the supercar has a 1.42 kg/hp power-to-weight ratio.

Power from a V12 engine is optimistacally rated at 1,084bhp, with a torque of 930Nm at 5,000rpm. The 1,200kg has a rear bias (53%) in its weight distribution.

Inside, there’s leather, alcantara, carbon-fibre, brushed aluminium and even a Bang and Olufsen sound system.

Pricing and availability is where things get a bit rocky for this predator as there will only be 20 units made available with a double-take type price of 1,000,000 euro, or $1,400,000 at the current exchange rates.

The name Shayton originally comes from the Sioux Indian word for a falcon (Chayton pron. Shay-ton).

Design

Redefining perfection of form and performance Design of Shayton Equilibrium comes from pure emotions, from perfect balance of energies and forces within the lead designer Andrej Stanta. He says that this is the only way human is being able to develop such a masterpiece. Without function Shayton would be just another piece of art to put into the gallery. Therefore two worlds are to clash together at one point to make absolute perfection, equilibrium.

Engineering this car could be chapter of its own. Complex to the point where man develops new building techniques and use materials reserved for space and army industry.

According to Andrej Stanta the most difficult task is to reach compromises from both sides although both have goal to make this car pure balanced perfection. And this is Shayton.

Tuning firm MTM plans to show off their latest version of the Audi R8 V10 Biturbo at the Geneva Motor Show next week. The R8 twin-turbo now reaches a top speed of 350km/h, 0-100km/h in 3.0 seconds, 200km/h in 9.37 and 300km/h in 19.42 seconds.

MTM chose to use the 5.0L V10 engine used on their Audi RS6 Clubsport for this model as well, but the RS6’s 730hp rating still falls short of what MTM accomplished with the R8 BiTurbo.

Aside from potent engine, the Audi R8 V10 Biturbo also offers a set of 20-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin PS2 tires, improved 8-piston brakes, a new front lip, a new rear spoiler, as well as handling improvements.

The Imperia GP had its world debut at the Belgian auto show, but only recently the manufacturer has revealed its details.

The Imperia brand from Belgium had its heyday between 1900 and 1950. Work got under way in 2008 to revive the brand as a retro styled vehicle along the lines of a Wiesmann or Morgan. Despite its styling from the past, the Imperia is equipped with the latest in hybrid technology propulsion.

Power comes from a 207bhp 1.6 litre turbo engine and a 134bhp electric motor. When the two engines work together, the GP reaches 62mph in 4.0 seconds, or in 6.0 seconds when in electric mode only. Purely in EV mode, the range is 43 miles. Imperia claims that the average fuel economy is just 148 mpg with CO2 emissions less than 50 g/km.

The petrol burning unit produces 210 HP and 250 Nm of torque (184 lb-ft) while the electric motor provides an additional 136 HP and 250 Nm of torque. This means a total output of 346 horses, which are able to accelerate the 2011 Imperia GP from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 Km/h) in 4.0 seconds flat. When the car runs of electrical power alone, the 0 to 62 mph acceleration time increases to 6.0-seconds, which is still pretty quick.

The performance is still pretty brisk with zero to 100 km/h in like four seconds. This car is a plug-in hybrid but still the fuel consumption figures they claim are to be honest hard to believe! They say it will average 1.9 liter per 100 km with CO2 emissions of below 50 g/km.

The Imperia GP officially goes on sale in 2012 priced at 89,950 euros ($121,000), although those who can’t wait can get their hands on the first edition model this year for 120,360 euros ($162,000).

Propulsion that really moves things forward

The motorisation of the Imperia GP roadster relies on a technology developed exclusively for this vehicle. The first sports car considering the same strong environmental concerns only propose the pure electric propulsion, which drastically limits their range of action.

Imperia, for its part, offers unlimited range the moment it switches to the thermal engine in case the batteries go empty. In hybrid mode, the batteries can also preventively be recharged when the vehicle is in motion.

During a journey, the driver can decide at any time, via a selector, the type of propulsion required: electric or hybrid.

These functions enable you to optimise your use of the Imperia GP by adapting to circumstances.

Cheap energy with no direct emissions

Environment and Performance

Pure speed. Really very pure

The Imperia Automobiles offer is radical: a vehicle whose consumption and CO2 emissions are comparable to those of a Smart ForTwo, whilst still guaranteeing outstanding performance easily rivalling makes with an established reputation, like Ferrari or Porsche.

Imperia Automobiles manages to square the circle in two ways. By designing a very lightweight vehicle on the one hand, and by harmoniously combining in parallel the two motorisations, thermal and electric, on the other.

Our design minimises well-to-wheel nuisances, that is from primary energy. Consequently, the Imperia GP roadster emits very little CO2 overall (and even zero direct emissions in electric mode), en thereby plays an effective part in fighting global warming. Following European regulation R101 for Plug-in hybrids, the mixed consumption -petrol and electricity- of the Imperia GP barely reaches 1.9 l/100km plus 11.5 kWh/100km and the CO2 emissions are below 50 g/km! In a more rigorous well-to-wheel philosophy, the environmental mission is also here completely fulfilled.

Performances that make other sports cars green with envy

Sports performances are not being left behind.

The Imperia GP accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds in purely electric mode, and in 4.0 seconds in hybrid mode. The kilometre time trial clocks in at 22.5 seconds. The Porsche 911 Carrera S itself cannot boast as much. Specialists will appreciate it.

We wanted to prove that a socially- and environmentally-responsible approach does not rule out the finer pleasures in life!

Rediscovered pleasure

The success of resurrected cars like the New Beetle, the Mini, or more recently, the commercial triumph of the new-look Fiat 500, bear witness to this: Neo-Retro Design is definitely in fashion. With wings separate from the engine hood and its fluid lines, the Imperia GP celebrates the return to a concept where elegance is no longer sacrificed for efficiency, and where these two parameters are harmoniously integrated. Its vertical radiator grille is a fine example of this. Although it might suggest an aerodynamic weakness, it houses a mobile inlet device that regulates the flow of air into the vehicle.

This characteristic gives it a better penetration ratio than many contemporary cars.
