Renault has released the first details for the 2014 Clio Cup. The 2014 Renault Clio Cup will be exclusively offered will go on sale in September of 2013 with pricing starts at €37,800.

On the outside, the RS model gains a roof scoop similar to the one found on the current Clio Cup as well as a large roof-mounted wing that is said to offer 40kg (88 pounds) of downforce at 125mph (201 km/h).

Featuring a 1.6-litre turbo-powered engine tuned by Oreca Magny-Cours and sealed at source, developing 220hp and 270Nm of torque, the new Clio Cup racer has a six-speed sequential gearbox with an AP Racing clutch and limited slip differential. There is also the option for a paddle-shift gear change.

The car is being developed for the 2014 racing season and has clocked 3,500 kilometers (2,200 miles) on various circuits where it proved to be about a second faster than the old 2-liter Clio racer.

Other performance highlights include AP Racing brakes, ZF-Sachs adjustable dampers and a data acquisition system with a dashboard-mounted display.

NEW TURBO-POWERED CLIO CUP SET FOR 2014 UK RACE DEBUT

Hot on the heels of the brand new Clio Renaultsport 200 Turbo road car unveiled at the Paris Motor Show last month, Renault UK is delighted to confirm its intention for the competition version of the fourth-generation Clio to appear in Britain for the 2014 motor racing season.

As the current domestic championship prepares to reach its conclusion at Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit this weekend on 20th/21st October, work is underway behind the scenes to ensure a smooth transition to the brand new turbo-powered car which will debut in Europe next year.

During initial testing, which began in early August and has so far covered around 3,500 kilometres at a variety of French circuits, lap times have been roughly one second per lap faster than the existing normally-aspirated 2.0-litre Clio Cup car.

High performance braking is guaranteed with 320mm AP Racing front discs and four-piston callipers, while the suspension features one-way adjustable dampers from ZF-Sachs with specific aluminium wishbones. Electronically, the complete data acquisition system is integrated into the TFT full colour dash display.

Aerodynamically the car boasts a highly efficient rear wing, offering 40kg of downforce at 125mph, with the addition of a roof scoop similar to the one on the current Clio Cup. Enhanced safety features are, of course, a pre-requisite while the car sits on 17-inch Speedline Corse racing alloys.

"We've enjoyed 22 fantastic years of Renault UK Clio Cup racing and the brand new Clio Cup race car is an incredibly exciting new chapter in the story for everyone", said Renault UK Communications Director Jeremy Townsend.

"We will continue to run the existing car in the British championship through 2013, with the intention to then introduce the new turbo-charged Clio Cup car the following season. Getting the timing right is very important, the car will race in the Clio Eurocup next year so our teams in the UK will have ample opportunity to see it in action ahead of its planned 2014 UK debut."

Since first bursting onto the national motorsport scene in 1991, as a replacement for the Renault 5 series, the Renault UK Clio Cup has been a cornerstone of British circuit racing and has played a key role in the careers of some of the sport's most successful touring car and sportscar drivers.

The previous generation Clio Cup was introduced in 2006 and has been highly successful with over 700 race cars sold.

Several graduates from Clio Cup currently form part of the current British Touring Car Championship grid, including 2006 champion Tom Onslow-Cole and 2010 title winner Dave Newsham. Jonathan Adam, the 2005 champion, is a race-winning force in the British GT Championship and also competed successfully in the BTCC prior to his switch to sportscars.

The new Clio Cup will be available for delivery in the UK from September 2013 priced from €37,800 excluding VAT.

Twingo R.S. Red Bull Racing RB7 combines driving pleasure with genuine sporty performance: Cup chassis, black 17-inch Gana wheels, R.S. Monitor (on-board telemetry system), Renault Sport chequered-pattern roof decal,

This limited edition version is available in more than 10 markets: Germany, Austria, France, Belgium/Luxemburg, Japan, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Switzerland,

Order books open at the beginning of June 2012 (in France beginning of September).
"Twingo R.S. Red Bull Racing RB7 is a pocket rocket packed with performance-enhancing features developed by Renault Sport Technologies. Its great looks are the fruit of Renault Sport F1's association with Red Bull Racing," notes Olivier Tschanhenz, Twingo Renault Sport Product Manager.

A sporty model with the accent on performance

Twingo R.S. Red Bull Racing RB7 benefits from Renault Sport's extensive experience of motor racing, rallying and road cars:

  • Its feisty 1.6 16V engine delivers 133 horsepower (98kW) at 6,750rpm and peak torque of 160Nm at 4,400rpm, yet its CO2 emissions and combined-cycle fuel consumption are a reasonable 150g/km and 6.5 litres/100km respectively,
  • The ‘Cup' chassis, which lowers the car's ride-height by 4mm compared to the ‘Sport' chassis and enhances performance by minimising weight transfer, targets customers seeking even greater enjoyment behind the wheel. The dampers and springs have been stiffened by 10 percent to improve the control of body roll.

Stunning exterior and interior looks

Twingo R.S. Red Bull Racing RB7 features the design cues of Renault Sport's other sporty models, including forceful front-end styling and a large, vertically-mounted logo set to a black background which illustrates the brand's new visual identity. The front bumper incorporates a Formula 1-style blade which takes its inspiration from Formula 1; while the sporty feel of the rear end is accentuated by the bigger wheel arches, lip spoiler and diffuser. In addition to these features which are specific to the R.S. version of Twingo, the Pearlescent Black body colour contrasts with several details picked out in Sirius Yellow (F1-style blade, door mirror housings, lip spoiler) to highlight the sporty calling of the Red Bull Racing RB7 limited-edition version. Its appeal is further enhanced by the Renault Sport chequered-pattern roof decal and door decals in the colours of the Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team.

Like Twingo R.S., the interior features yellow stitching for the steering wheel, seats and dash cowling, plus gloss black inserts for the dashboard and audio console. Gloss black has also been used for the rev-counter housing and side air vents. The new First audio system and R.S. Monitor are standard fitments.

The exclusivity of this limited edition version is reinforced by a numbered "FIA 2011 World Champion" plaque and a Renault Sport logo inlay for the gear lever knob.

Like its Clio R.S. counterpart, the limited edition Red Bull Racing RB7 version of Twingo R.S. showcases the transfer of skills that operates between Renault's expertise in Formula 1 (Renault provides power for Red Bull Racing, Lotus F1 Team, Caterham F1 Team and Williams F1 Team in the 2012 championship) and the brand's road cars. A similar limited-edition version of Mégane R.S. will also be available soon.

Twingo R.S. - background information

8'08'': another record1 for Renault Sport at the Nürburgring Nordschleife with Megane R.S. Trophy

  • A time of 8'08"" has seen Mégane R.S. Trophy - the new limited edition version of Mégane Renault Sport - establish a new benchmark time for a production-specification front-wheel drive car at the Nürburgring's infamous Nordschleife. This performance beats the attempts of several far more powerful, rear-wheel drive cars.

  • Renault Sport -the sport brand of Renault- shows one more time what Renault know-how and enthusiasm mean. Today's achievement provides further evidence of the technological excellence that goes into the design of Renault models and of how motorsport-proven technical solutions are carried over to production cars, the chief beneficiaries being the brand's customers.

An exploit that has ‘shortened' the Nordschleife...

Renault Sport established its first lap record for a front-wheel drive production car at the Nordschleife on June 23, 2008. The time of 8m17s posted that day by Mégane R26.R. demonstrated that a showroom-specification front-wheel drive car could beat many models produced by some elite specialist brands and tuners. On June 17, 2011, it was the turn of Mégane R.S. Trophy - a new limited-edition version of Mégane R.S. - to beat the time by 9 seconds, a lap record that has stood for three years in the firm grasp of its predecessor.

Today's lap time is the fruit of an increase in power output to 265hp, along with careful set-up work and a tyre choice optimised by Renault Sport engineers. This limited edition version reveals the exceptional performance potential of Mégane R.S.

The latest achievement speaks volumes for Renault's ability to dial the expertise and experience it has forged in motorsport - including Formula 1 - into its production cars. Indeed, Mégane R.S. Trophy has benefited directly from all the domains in which Renault Sport excels, from design quality and exacting reliability, to painstakingly tuned engines, chassis and brakes.

Supercar performance... for a much wider audience of enthusiasts

The time posted at the Nürburgring puts Mégane R.S. on a par with an extremely prestigious list of supercars. Mégane R.S Trophy provides access to a level of performance which rivals that of exclusive cars with power outputs of up to and beyond 500hp.

Laurent Hurgon (development driver, Renault Sport):

"The Nordschleife is a legendary course. Its length and layout, which is very different to that of a conventional circuit, make it a unique and technically demanding challenge. Its difficulties are extremely varied, ranging from fast and even very fast in places to much twistier and slower portions. Turns like ‘Karusell' and ‘Pflanzgarten', for example, make huge demands of the car and driver alike, yet Mégane R.S. Trophy is very much in its element here and feels particularly reassuring despite the uncompromising nature of the terrain. The limited slip differential allowed me to accelerate hard out of the countless turns without understeer. The carefully-tuned Cup chassis, the dampers, the fade-resistant brakes, the Recaro seats, the power of the 195kW engine, the ready availability of torque between 2,500 and 5,000rpm and the car's Bridgestone RE 050A (235/35 R19) tyres allowed me to make the most of the car's enormous potential, especially into and out of the corners. It is this package which enabled me to post such a quick time round this circuit which you must always approach with a certain degree of humility."

RENAULT MÉGANE R.S. AND MOTORSPORT

Mégane is very active in both rallying and circuit racing. Designed for rallying, Mégane R.S. N4 stands out at once through its looks. Widely acclaimed for the quality of its chassis and engine, it is an ideal choice for privateer teams and drivers. Developed for tarmac competition, Mégane R.S. N4 is emerging as a new benchmark on sealed-surface events.

On track, Mégane Trophy V6 takes the lines of the production version a step further to combine carefully-honed aerodynamics and a remarkably elegant stance. It sets new standards in the world of ‘high performance' racing saloons. Designed and engineered solely for motorsport, this prototype delivers 360hp while tipping the scales at 980kg. It has become emblematic of the World Series by Renault and delivers unrivalled performance/driving pleasure package for its price and class.

Bridgestone RE050A: the record-beating tyre

The Bridgestone RE050A's rigid construction features two Rayon plies which transmit the forces generated by the contact patch to ensure responsive performance and impeccable stability.

The tread's ‘soft' high-grip compound was conceived for high-performance sporting cars and is capable of withstanding extremely high lateral and longitudinal forces.

The Potenza RE050A's asymmetric tread pattern takes its inspiration from the tyres developed by Bridgestone for Formula 1 which demands exceptional performance in both wet and dry conditions.

The pattern of the outer sides of the tread is derived from that employed in F1. Its extremely rigid properties deliver enhanced response and optimal handling. The rigid tread blocks favour outstanding road holding which is particularly appreciable when cornering.

The central, semi-slick circumferential band optimises the potential of Mégane R.S. Trophy's chassis, combining instant response from the front tyres and good rear-end directional control to facilitate entry into corners.
The central part of the tread takes its inspiration from the Potenza F1 rain tyre. Its carefully designed tread blocks clear water more quickly and more efficiently towards the main grooves to provide even greater grip in wet conditions and push back the aquaplaning threshold.

In addition to its sporting potential, the Potenza RE050A delivers a high standard of ride comfort and also packs Bridgestone-developed noise-reduction technology in accordance with the philosophy behind Mégane R.S. Trophy.

Press Release

Renault is showcasing Renault Duster at the Buenos Aires Motor Show in a version adapted specially for the Americas.

  • Renault Duster, a reliable and robust vehicle, will feature a unique price/equipment ratio symbolising the democratization of the 4x4.
  • Renault Duster will be produced locally, at the Curitiba plant in Brazil, and launched in last-quarter 2011 in Argentina and Brazil.
  • The Americas Region, starting with the two leading markets, Brazil and Argentina, is a key objective for Renault, which aims to double its vehicle sales there between 2009 and 2013.

Renault Duster, an original design

Renault Duster has been specially redesigned for the Americas Region in a process coordinated locally by Renault Design America in Sao Paulo. The vehicle features a chrome grille at the front and a chrome strip at the rear with “Duster” written in negative. The 4x4 model is more emphatically styled than in Europe with wheels painted in dark gray and fitted with a latest-generation four-wheel-drive system. The interior is more upmarket, including a new dashboard. The model was adapted by Brazilian and Argentine engineering teams, which ensured compliance with local standards (impact, engine, suspension, tires, etc.). Renault Duster symbolizes the democratization of SUVs and innovation at an affordable price for all.

Adapted to the Americas market

Renault Duster will be manufactured locally at the Curitiba plant in Brazil and launched in last-quarter 2011 in Argentina and Brazil. In Colombia, it will be produced at the Medellin site and launched in May 2012. Renault Duster is a 4x4 combining robustness and reliability and positioned almost at C-segment level, but boasting a price/equipment ratio unique to the market. At its launch in Brazil (2007) and Argentina (2008) Sandero was priced for the small car segment, even though its interior and exterior dimensions were those of the superior, compact-car category.

Commenting, Steve Norman, Senior Vice President, Global Marketing, Renault, said: “Renault Duster is really adapted to Latin American markets. It surprises with its dimensions, larger than those of the competition, and its excellent abilities. This special version, with exclusively designed interiors, new colour schemes and a new grille, will make 4x4s affordable for more and more customers in Brazil and Argentina. For Renault, in America, we can really say that there will be a before and an after Duster. The Renault brand’s journey on the American continent promises to be exciting and full of new challenges. The next challenge for Renault in Argentina will be to surpass 100,000 vehicle sales a year for the first time in its history. Something tells me that before the year is over we will have met this challenge.”

Buenos Aires, a first look at the renewal of the Renault brand

Aiming to broaden its range in the Region, Renault is launching three new vehicles in Argentina and Brazil in 2011. Alongside Renault Duster, the company will be presenting phase 2 of Sandero (the brand’s local best-seller) and Sandero Stepway, both specially designed and marketed for these countries, together with Fluence, the symbol of the renewal in the C segment. Renault will highlight its differentiation, based on design and innovation, with the presentation of the DeZir concept car and Fluence Z.E., the first electric vehicle with unlimited range. Range renewal will be complete in the Americas Region by 2016 with 40 models for all the countries.

Brazil and Argentina, essential to Renault’s Americas objective

Renault aims to double vehicle sales in the Americas Region from 200,000 in 2009 to 400,000 in 2013. Renault sold 310,000 units in the Region in 2010, much more than in 2009 (225,000). With 160,297 (PV + LCV) sales in 2010, Brazil is Renault’s second-largest market behind France (633,411), but before Germany (131,053). Renault has long been present in Argentina and in 2010 it ranked third in the country with a 13% share of the market, which set a record in total industry volume of 634,000 in 2010, up 26% on 2009. Renault quality is renowned in the country, with a recommendation rate of over 80% from new vehicle buyers and customers using Renault services.

Renault has announced the new Renault Megane Renaultsport 265 Trophy. Priced at £27,820 in the UK, the new Renault Megane Renaultsport sees a 15hp and 20Nm over the current Megane Renaultsport.

The new Megane Renaultsport 265 Trophy has 15hp more than current Mégane Renaultsport 250, 20Nm extra torque and is capable to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds, while the top speed is 158 mph.

According to the automaker, the power to weight ratio on the Megane Renaultsport 265 Trophy is 191 HP per tonne, but you'll understand better what that means by knowing that this hot hatch sprints from 0 to 62 mph in 6 seconds flat and can also reach a top speed of 158 mph (up from 6.1 seconds and 156 mph).

Helping the new RS Megane 265 Trophy’s torque-steer limiting front struts and limited slip differential put the power to the ground are a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE 050 tyres wrapped around 19-inch Speedline alloy wheels in brake dust obscuring black. The car also gets Trophy red decals on the air intake and doors, LED running lights and a Renaultsport Monitor on-board performance tracker.

Orders open 20th June, first deliveries end July

Ahead of its world debut next weekend at the World Series by Renault, Nurburgring meeting in Germany, the French marque has unveiled its fastest ever road car, the Mégane Renaultsport 265 Trophy.

Priced in the UK at £27,820 on-the-road, the new Mégane Renaultsport flagship arrives ready to take the fight to its VW Group rivals, including the Golf and Scirocco R stablemates, with a 15hp hike on the current Mégane Renaultsport, plus an extra 20Nm torque.

Naturally, as a result of its greater power compared to the standard 250hp versions, it boasts improved performance statistics. The newcomer dispatches 0-62mph in six seconds exactly (instead of 6.1), with a top speed of 158 mph, up by an extra 2mph. In everyday driving, its 360Nm is usefully available across a broad rev band between 3,000 and 5,000rpm. Its impressive power-to-weight ratio is 191hp per tonne.

To achieve these gains, Renaultsport's wizardry has seen the engine's maximum turbo pressure uprated to 2.5 bar, up by 0.2, together with the air intake being revised to take account of the higher pressure and running temperatures.

In the UK, the latest addition comes based on the Cup chassis version, but also adds, unsurprisingly, even more core equipment, including Recaro seats with yellow seatbelts and detailing, Renaultsport Monitor on-board performance tracking and a UK numbered plaque. In keeping with its focused nature, there is just a single option, a gloss Renault i.d. Diamond Black roof at £415.

As part of its attractive price, new owners of the 265 Trophy also gain free access to the full 2012 Renaultsport UK trackday calendar, worth around £650, giving them the opportunity to revel in the track-bred qualities of the ultimate roadgoing Mégane Renaultsport around some of the country's finest circuits, including Brands Hatch and Silverstone.

In keeping with its enticing performance, the 265 Trophy boasts distinctive looks. In the rare moments when it is being driven sedately enough to be glimpsed, the top-of-the-range Mégane Renaultsport will be instantly recognisable through its striking combination of gloss black 19" Speedline alloys with red rim, high-performance Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tyres, 'Trophy' red decals on the F1-style front blade and doors, and LED daytime running lights. Adding to its sense of visual drama, the 265 Trophy welcomes the return of Liquid Yellow i.d. metallic paint, reborn from its original use on the Clio Renaultsport 182 and V6 255, and latterly on the R26 and R26.R. Black metallic paint is the only other colour available, which, set off by red highlights on the car's decals and alloy wheels, is likely to be sought after by for those seeking one of the most menacing, stealth-like hot hatches around.

In its reinforced armoury, the newcomer also features new Formula 1-inspired high-performance Bridgestone Potenza RE050A as seen on a plethora of the world's finest sports cars and supercars. Their asymmetric, directional tread pattern and the form of its tread blocks provide outstanding grip, stability and acoustic comfort, regardless of conditions. Indeed, the outer part of the tread is similar to racing 'slicks', while the inner section is modeled on F1 wet-weather tyres.

Elsewhere, the new 265 Trophy retains the essence of the Mégane Renaultsport's award-winning recipe, including the critically acclaimed Cup chassis (stiffer springs, dampers and anti-roll bar and grooved brake discs), mechanical limited slip differential, Brembo brakes, as well as the innovative PerfoHub independent steering axis front suspension set-up, which virtually eliminates torque steer.

The new Mégane Renaultsport 265 Trophy is available to order from 20th June, priced £27,820 on-the-road, with first deliveries in late July 2011. In addition to aggressive pricing, exclusivity is assured for the flagship Mégane, through a limited production run of only 500 examples worldwide, 50 of which are destined for the UK.

RENAULT CAPTUR: ON THE ADVENTURE TRAIL

  • Unveiled today by Carlos Ghosn, ahead of its world debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, Captur is the second concept car to demonstrate Renault's new design strategy
  • A sporty crossover with a flowing and athletic body language, it conjures up visions of two people exploring the world
  • Its Energy dCi 160 twin-turbo engine concept combines driving fun, enjoyable performance and low CO2 emissions

At the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, Renault revealed its new brand identity which puts people at the forefront of its concerns. The new, ambition design strategy that resulted from this is founded on different stages of the human life cycle with each phase taking the form of a specific concept car. The first, the two-seater DeZir, expressed ‘falling in love', the passion present at the beginning of any new adventure. Now Renault Captur, which will debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, addresses the second phase of this cycle, that of two people exploring the world around them.

Just like its predecessor, Captur defines the simple, sensuous and warm style that will be progressively extended to future Renault car designs. "Captur is a fun and sporty crossover, ideal for a young couple about to discover the world", explains Director of Design, Laurens Van den Acker. "It takes as its basis the fundamental design language introduced on the DeZir concept car but adds a more technical dimension - more functional but still highly sensuous," adds Axel Breun, Director of concept cars.

A CROSSOVER THAT'S ALL MUSCLE IN MOTION

In its proportions and fluid curves, Captur evokes movement and lightness, yet at the same time displaying powerful and muscular all-terrain cues. Just as with DeZir, angles, corners and lines have given way to sensuous and natural forms. For the exterior designer, Julio Lozano, the main sources of inspiration were athletes and radical sports. "In designing Captur, I began with the image of a sprinter on the starting blocks, his muscles tensed, and the energy unleashed when the starting pistol is fired," he explains The design also references equipment such as helmets, gloves and other protective gear used in radical sports, combining high technology with sophistication and lightness.

Captur adopts the new frontal identity first presented by DeZir. As with this, the identity has as its centrepiece a large Renault logo, set vertically against a dark surface so as to stand out as clearly as possible. Substantial, matt-finished wings reinforce the design's visual strength. LEDs relay the direction indicator signal in a wave effect running the whole length of the vehicle.

Captur does more than simply stir the emotions: it is also a practical and versatile vehicle. It is fitted with a hard convertible top which, once removed, reveals a carbon fibre framework. Captur can thus transform itself from a coupé to a convertible, from an urban vehicle to an off-roader, while its overall sporty appeal is reinforced by its butterfly doors and big tyres fitted to 22-inch black and white rims. With its bodywork finished in a spicy shade of orange, Captur takes its cue from the red championed by DeZir. This colour appears in a variety of different shades on materials both inside and outside the vehicle.

AN INTERIOR FULLY BATHED IN WARMTH AND LIGHTNESS

The orange theme has been carried over to the cabin which also features fluorescent highlights picked out by a constant stream of light. "My main sources of inspiration were the human body, outdoor sports and urban styling," explains the colour and trim designer, Kana Watanabe. "I wanted Captur to radiate warmth and dynamism."

The interior of Captur is designed to be both welcoming and occupant-friendly. The impression of lightness expressed by the exterior is dominant here, too, with the front seats attached to the centre console as if suspended in mid air. The passenger compartment is restrained and pure, with no superfluous equipment. Innovative and ingenious materials have been employed, allowing the designers to play with light and optical effects. The centre console, door casings and dashboard are formed using a translucent material rather like a second skin. At the front of the cabin, this includes a glimpse of the high-tech fibre ropes, luminescent in places, which have been used for most of the passenger compartment. "The whole of the interior is designed around this network of stretched elastic ropes which bring to mind the worlds of sailing or mountain climbing, They use graphics and light to bring rhythm to the overall design and reinforce the dynamic feel of the vehicle while also ensuring a lighter feel inside the cabin," explains the interior designer, Magali Gouraud-Borgers.

The aluminium pedals, carbon bucket-style front seats and steering wheel trimmed in grey textured leather reassert the sporting side of the design, in keeping with the original brief.

The rear of the car is a multi-purpose area, with the deck lined with three layers of rope:

  • The stretched cords are laid out in a way that allows items to be secured, thus providing a reconfigurable storage area;
  • They also provide an opportunity for relaxation thanks to the supple elasticity of the structure. This is an entirely new type of comfort, a new form of seating akin to a hammock.
  • Finally, it is possible to pull seatbacks from the side of the car to provide two full-sized rear seats, complete with seat belts and head restraints. This enables Captur to accommodate four passengers.

AN INNOVATIVE CROSSOVER - STRONG ON PERFORMANCE AND LIGHT ON FUEL

Captur makes use of the Energy dCi 160 twin-turbo engine concept, developed from the new Energy dCi 130 that will eventually replace the 1.9 dCi. Downsizing is a key element in Renault's strategy to meet its declared objective of being Europe's leading automaker for low CO2 emissions. The range of electric vehicles will run alongside internal-combustion engined models that combine performance with reduced fuel consumption. The Energy dCi 160 twin-turbo fits perfectly within this strategy. It produces 118kW (160hp) from a capacity of 1.6 litres - that's a specific power output of 100hp per litre. Peak torque (380Nm) is available from as low as 1,750rpm, giving powerful acceleration from low revs, as well as refined performance under all driving conditions. Paired with a dual clutch EDC gearbox, this driveline promises genuinely enjoyable driving with CO2 emissions of less than 99g per kilometre.

Captur's performance is further enhanced by the RX2®, a novel system that improves traction at low speeds. Should one of the two driven wheels lose traction, this entirely new mechanical self-locking differential transfers all or part of the engine's torque to the wheel with the most grip. Driving on slippery roads and tracks thus remains smooth and effortless.

Captur also marks the debut of the Visio-System, an innovation that uses a forward-facing camera mounted at the top of the windscreen to provide driver-assistance functions. This new technology is able to embed synthesised images into real-time images of the road ahead displayed on a central screen; this is the principle of augmented reality, aiming to enhance the driver's perception of the external world by superimposing purpose-designed elements. The system helps reduce driving stress, for a relaxed, reassuring drive.

The new design strategy takes as its basis the bonds that build between the brand and its customers as they go through the many experiences of life: when they fall in love, begin to explore the world, start a family, work, take time off to play, and gain wisdom. This goes hand in hand with the definition of a new human design language inspired by the three keywords that guide the brand's future vision: simple, sensuous and warm. In keeping with this strategy, concept cars will be instrumental in putting shape to this vision, paving the way for a product plan featuring a clear and consistent range of models.
