Mazda MX-5 Yusho concept has been unveiled at the 2012 Leipzig motor show in Germany.
The matte white paint together with the 17-inch anthracite gray alloy wheels wrapped around in semi-click Toyo Proxes R888 tires size 215/45 R17, lowered suspension, boot lid spoiler and the carbon-fiber rear diffuser housing the centrally mounted twin tailpipes tell only part of the story.
Power comes from a supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that has been equipped with Cosworth pistons and connecting rods as well as a sports exhaust system. This enables the mill to produce 241 PS (177 kW / 238 hp) and 274 Nm (202 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a six-speed manual transmission which enables the model to hit a top speed of 240 km/h (149 mph).
Other upgrades to the car include a set of 17-inch light alloy wheels, inside, there are suede trim pieces on the dash, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and sporty Recaro bucket seats.
Mazda has made no announcement of plans to make a production version of the Yusho as a swansong for the ageing MX-5, insisting it is simply a concept at this stage.
