Spies in Scandinavia captured some photos of the 2012 BMW 3-Series. The car has been undergoing testing in northern Scandinavia at a BMW facility near a frozen lake.


This BMW 3-series sedan shows the car's rear LED taillights, and a roofline that travels towards the backend of the car with a steeper slope than the current model. Many are speculating that the car has a lengthened wheelbase and bigger body.


Engine choices on the car could include a rumored petrol-fueled four-cylinder turbo in development as well as a hybrid unit. Another rumored engine slated for the 2012 M3 is a smaller twin-turbo six-cylinder.


BMW will begin assembly of the 2012 BMW 3-Series next year.
